Privacy Statement

I respect your privacy as a visitor to my site. For each visitor to this site, my Web server automatically recognizes general traffic viewing statistics such as operating system, browser settings, etc. I do not retain or request your e-mail address. I do have access to generic, non-personally identifiable information related to all site visitors. This information is used for analysis of traffic at my site and then discarded.

The only way I will have your e-mail address is if you communicate with me via e-mail. Your e-mail address will never be shared with – or sold to – others.

This site does not set cookies.

Anti-Spam Notification

Publication of electronic addresses on this website or the use of an electronic contact form is for the purpose of professional communication only and must not be used to infer consent to the receipt of unsolicited commercial electronic messages.

If you receive an unwanted email that mentions SolitudeSeeking.com, has a link to this site or was purportedly sent from this site or by James Curtis Smith, you have received an unsolicited e-mail (spam) sent by someone else.

I do not maintain a mailing list and I do not send mass e-mailings from this or any other associated domain. Further, this site does not have an active @SolitudeSeeking.com e-mail address.

At least once in the past, parties with whom I have no relationship have used my name and my website address in unsolicited e-mails – without my knowledge or permission. I do not send unsolicited e-mail and I strongly oppose the practice. I do not sell or share the information of those who do contact me regarding my work.

If you believe you have received such an e-mail, please let me know so I can take appropriate measures.

Comment Moderation

By default all comments on this blog must be individually moderated and approved before they will appear on the page. While this is time consuming, it is necessary to avoid SPAM and potentially malicious content that might make its way past my automated filters.

Unless I know you personally or you have a history of commenting here, there will be a delay in comment approval. Sometimes the delay is simply that I haven’t yet logged on to check comments. Sometimes the delay is that I’m still trying to verify the comment as coming from a “real person” and isn’t just some randomly generated nonsense. I will perform due diligence on all comments that make it through my filters to eliminate advertisements, SPAM or attempts to include malicious scripts or links to the same.

If you have a history of posting the same generic comment at numerous blogs with a link to your site, your comments will be reported as SPAM and deleted. If you link to or post fraudulent information, your comment will be reported as SPAM and deleted.

In short, I encourage your comments and interaction. However, neither I nor my site visitors have any interest in your scams, schemes and fraud. I will do everything in my power to ensure real people are having real discussions in my comment threads.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act and EU Copyright Directive

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (“DMCA”) and the EU Copyright Directive of 2001 (“EUCD”) provides recourse for owners of copyrighted material who believe that their rights under U.S. copyright law have been infringed on the Internet. Under the DMCA and EUCD, copyright owners may contact the authorized agent of an Internet service provider to report alleged infringements of their protected works appearing on web pages hosted by the service provider. Upon receipt of a properly filed complaint satisfying the requirements of the DMCA and/or EUCD, infringed content will be removed or access blocked to the allegedly infringing material until it is removed or the issue is resolved. Under this act, your entire website can be shutdown for infringement of copyright.
